This patio was a commission for a family member in their private residence down in the Dandenong Ranges. The entire project was finished within a week. Since all the black tile was supplied, it seemed fit to design a colourful feature to really stand out. The idea of a mandala came about and this is essentially what the design was modelled on.

The addition of glass stars in the background helped tie all the design elements together.

Using predominantly broken ceramic tile, the feature was pieced together off site on mesh, while the background was adhered to the substrate direct. The feature itself measures approximately 1.6m across.
